[W126 Coupe] 500SEC Euro Cabriolet

I don't know who did the conversion, only that it was done in Europe when the car was new.  Much nicer than the Straman conversions from Southern California.  The seats are narrowed, but not squashed together.  Those wheels came on the car, as it was being converted to a low-rider when I rescued it.  They are the only remnant of the "abuse" the car was encountering.  I had a nice set of chrome 16" Centra wheels from an '84 380SL that I owned but found that the hubs from my 500SEC were too large.  I personally like the older Loriser wheels...the ones that are a flat, smooth disc.  I have two sets of stock wheels, one silver and one chrome, but the 14" wheels don't excite me.  I have some later 16" Mercedes wheels, but they don't clear the tie-rod ends.

Gary,

Nice car and good luck with the restoration. Looks like you're starting from a good base.

Who did the conversion, and are the rear seats squashed together?

Oh, yes, it would look so much better with a set of period correct rims, or a set of color-coded AMG 3-piece rims. Those three-spoke rims only look good on classic SAABs.
