Jay and Markus,
That is why I put this question on the table.
I heard so many different opinions in my area and I like to hear that from this list because of your experiences.

Jay -

Sorry, but that is the biggest nonsense I've ever heard! I am proof of that with my fleet, all switched over later, zero problems. And its not a waste of money, actually, I calculated I save quite a bit of money. I used to do what you do, every 2500 (close) with dino. If driving 10K per year, that's 4 oil changes, plus the work, etc. Now I do it once and done. Less mess, less work, less money. And supposedly better for your engine. I have over 100K on each vehicle I have it in (6 cars, Rv, motorcycle).

I say its nonsense because there is no proof and your statement could scare people off from it, which is silly. And which Mercedes dealer will tell you this? Mine hasn't.

Synthetic is only good when used from when the car was new.
1987 560 never had synthetic in it when new

Once a car has used regular oil, synthetic is a waste of money and Mercedes will tell you this
Since I have a diesel I use 15W 40 Shell Rotella in all my cars
I buy it at Walmart best price on motor oils and anti freeze. The only things I buy at Walmart
But any 10w 40 is fine.
Synthetic is not a really a synthetic bur motor oil with an additive.
I change oil and filter in my car every 2000 miles or every four months.

Hi All,

What is the best oil to use for a 560 SEC.
My car needs an oil change and I want to be sure to get the right one.
I ask this because somebody told me the best is Mobil-1 synthetic.
That might be true for new cars, but I do not know for my 1987 560 SEC.
