AZTECPILOT,
Just curious; do you own/fly an Aztec or are you an Aztec? Either way,
it's intriguing. I don't fly anymore but I'm reminded that it was from the
proceeds of the sale of my 1979 Piper Dakota that I bought a black 560 SEC
Cpe for myself and a white one for my wife. That was decades ago and
though I've had had some serious maintenance expenses to keep my Cpe running, it
is less expensive to maintain than airplane and the joy of owning a Cpe
is somewhat similar (for me anyway).
Kind regards,
Ernie

I have a nice 1990 SEC with about 113,000-114,000 miles on it. No mods,
strictly original,
no wrecks, one minor rust repair on inside of left front fender, repair
was well done. Exterior is champaign with nice tan leather interior. Good
glass, good dash pad. Same owner since 1996. Always garaged. No apparent oil
consumption between changes at approximtely 5000 mile intervals. Recent
head gaskets, new battery, muffler and tail pipes. Since 1996, all service
done work has been done by Star Motors in Mission, Kansas. They specilaize on
Benz, BMW, Jag and Rolls. Clear title. $8500. Yes, I know there are less
expensive ones available, but this IS a nice one.

Hello Emile,

I have owned and flown a 1973 "E" model Piper Aztec since 1987. It was
stolen from a local airport in late 1973 and was recovered by the US State
Department three years later
in Mexico City. The insurance company sold it to a Central Missouri banker
who flew it very little. il I bought it from him in 1987. At that time it
had about eight hundred hours on and it now has 1860 hours. The total time
is now 1860 hours and I amconsidering installing Lycoming factory overhauled
engines in the next year or two. I Also own a 1991 Waco Biplane and a 1979
Cessna 210. Also a couple of BMW bikes and one older Moto Guzzi.

I am coming up on retirement soon, but I still enjoy a well tuned engine
and love to "light up a tire" on occaision. I had planned to use the Aztec
for just a couple of hundred hours to build some multi-engine time and then
sell it. However, it proved to be a very reliable load hauler aircraft that
is easy to fly, so I still have it twenty three years later.

Yes, the 560 SEC is a bit expensive to keep in shape and you are right it
is not quite as expenxive as an airplane, but expensive never the less.
However, I do enjoy the Benz Coupe and would even consider a 560 Sedan if i ran
on to a really clean one.

Thanks for the e-mail. Sorry to hear you are no longer flying. Don't know
how long I can hold on to my medical. However, I must say flying light sport
aircraft holds little interest for me.

Have a good week end.

Best Regards,

Tom Seitz
