[W126 Coupe] 560 SEC Cutting Out

Hi Sam,

Im pretty sure ive nailed this now as yesterday fiddling with the accelerator pedal made the fuel pump cut out.

My car has ASR and so has a "throttle position sensor" - I have read today (in my workshop manual) that this has an in built safety switch that cuts power to the fuel relay... so im changing this throttle assembly and im confident that should sort it out...

Man im lucky I have a 560 here for spares, i could have spent thousands on all of the items I have changed up to now!

Many Thanks & Regards

Jay Manek

On a possibly related issue, my 88 SEC w/ 90K mi. is cutting out when cold, before it reaches normal operating temp, where it runs fine...

My mechanic suggested replacing the injectors. He noticed that mine were original which are made of steel and tend to clog over time.

The replacement Bosh injectors are made of brass and much improved.

I will be replacing these soon and see if it makes a difference.

Just a thought if you have checked all the other possibilities such as fuel pump, EZL, relay, ignition system, crank sensor, fuel filter, fuel in tank ;-)... etc.

Sam
