Hi Jonathan & Group...
I think you are hitting the nail with the below statement.
I changed the OVP last week and the car behaved for a while... I did a 50 mile journey without it cutting out once. Then on the way back, same problems..
By shorting out pins 15 & 37 on the FPR, the fuel pump runs constantly and then I do not get the problem at all.
Looking at the relay, there is indeed a pin labelled "TD"... So this HAS to be the cause.. makes perfect sence, the problem only occurs at low revs and so there must be a weak signal somewhere here.
So you mention changing the coil.. is this where the TD signal comes from? I have a donor 560 so parts not an issue.
I see a wire from the EZL that seperates into two and goes down onto the engine block somewhere... Is this not also a TD signal?
Also when I ordered the crank sensor from MB, the initially supplied me with a "TDC sender" and I cant figure out where this goes at all... It just looks like a probe with a 3 pin connector.
Thanks for the help.. I feel we are getting closer to nailing this.

interesting, well, the FPR requires a signal (TD) from the coil to tell the car that ignition is firing and to keep the fuel pumps engaged.. You may chck the coil, verify the grounds are good/connections are tight etc..
Might even drop in a spare coil if you have one handy.

Hi,
The car starts instantly, sometimes stalls again but then normally on the second attempt will be fine.
Im pretty sure something is telling the fuel to shut off.. when the problem first occured, nothing would start the car unless i jumped the pins on the fuel relay... the car had no issue if pins 15 and 47 were jumped...
Many Thanks & Regards

so is it re-starting straight away? The big question is are we fuel or spark...
or, if a bad sensor is telling the car that it's rev'ing too high and the ICU is shutting the ICV..

Hi guys,
Well i swapped Crank Sensor and the EZL... at first I thought id got it as one of the connections was green...but just getting the car out of the garage and it stalled on me.
Its getting pretty annoying! Any ideas guys?
I ordered a crank sensor from mercedes but they sent me the TDC sender instead.. When i told them, they said a new crank sensor was over £200 GBP.. so i swapped both the EZL and crank sensor from my donor car.
So any idea where this TDC sender goes? Its a probe, looks like the crank sensor and the other end has a 3 pin rectangular connector... may as well change it now ive paid for it!
Many Thanks & Regards

Jay,
About the cutting in and out; have you checked the EZL?
Not a part that seems to fail a lot on the M117, but I've had a lot of EZL issues with the M119 engine in my car and those are the exact symptoms.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] 560 SEC Cutting Out
Hi All,
Ok im struggling with my 560 SEC..
Basically it just cuts out at low revs.. it will idle for hours without an issue but when driving it cuts out when approaching a junction.. sometimes when approaching a junction at low speed and other times just when pulling away..
I have swapped the Idle control unit and Fuel Pump Relay.. but no difference...
When this first started happening, the car would not restart and the fuel pump would not run, I had to jumper the pins (i think 15 and 47?) to get the fuel pump to run so I could get home.. It did this even with the brand new relay... but recently it seems to restart immediately...
HELP!!
Many Thanks & Regards
