Hi Axel,
You have the actuator up on the engine front pass side controlled by the analog computer up under the driver's footwell. GDL offers some troubleshooting steps on their website. I've repaired 1 out 3 cruise control amps by re-soldering much of the board using magnified lamp and 25 watt pointed tip iron, solder removal bulb and fresh solder were needed on a few connections. Again, success was only 1 out of 3.
I have one tested and known to be bad actuator. You may have this as well. Basically it is a wand (or wiper) on an arm that sweeps across the contacts inside the actuator. If you have a failed actuator you may hear a chatter from under the hood which is a clear indicator of its failure.
By the way, the bad weather (rain on the roadways) may contribute to the erratic behavior where there is a connection to the speed sensor so if you had any hydroplaning it may have caused the system to be a bit more erratic. FWIW, Boston's roads are a disaster where much of the new pavement is now slamming into driver's windshields during this rainy period. Must be that economic recovery dollar that most of us never saw any benefit from now trickling down to the glass companies.
Good luck,
Dick

Hey all,
My cruise control has never been silky smooth. Even before the engine swap it was always "hunting" a bit around the set speed.
Well, on Saturday, driving through pouring rain and gusty winds to my son's baskeball game (his team lost, to a team with girls on the roster! Yeah, proud pappa.....) the "hunting" cruise control turned into a wild bucking bronco.
My daughter thought it was a lot of fun. Me less so.
Is there anything to fix in the cruise control, or should I just order a replacement from Jonatha?
Cheers,
Axel
