I don't remember how I did the shaft seal but I like using sockets as items
to push with in everything else so it's possible I used one here.
Take the pistons and put them in any hole and make sure they move back and
forth VERY smoothly. If all four do that, you've found an acceptable hole
for them.

Thanks Mike-it looked like just bumping it on a rubber or wood piece would
dislodge the piston housing. It seems to just sit on the cone shape in the
center of the pump housing.
Maybe one last thing - do I press the shaft seal out (how would I get access
to it from the inside) and press the new one in or just tear the old one out
from the outside and press the new one in ?
I probable screwed up already because I removed the pistons and don't know
which cylinders they came from.
