Hi guys,
I have a 1986 Euro 500 SEC with 238,087 miles; my car runs well and it has not
been abused, but it burns some oil and runs too rich. In the morning when I try
to start the car, it will not start unless I press on the gas paddle or attempt
to start it two times...
I'm thinking of replacing the cold start switch. What would you recommend? Also
is there an electronic device (computer) that regulates the idle and fuel
mixture?
Thanks in advance,
James

The best advice I have is to lean-out the engine a full
half turn. This is what I needed to do, after I changed
the entire exhaust system. It now takes 3 short tries
to fire it up, but no more black residue in the tail-pipes,
all grey. Performance has not been affected, at all, and
if you don’t like it, you can always turn it back, following
the inspection. Of course, if the leak is too large, playing
with the tower may not solve the problem. If it is the
large boot on top, you may be able to seal it temporarily
with tape/glue. If it is one of, or multiples of, the eight
rings between the manifolds, you can change these yourself,
but it’s time-consuming. Are you using premium grade
fuel?? Try some aviation fuel, 1/3 max to full tank. Burns
very clean. Just make certain that the cooling system
works perfectly.

Hi Guy's
It's Clay again still playing w/the 88 560 couldn't pass emissions too rich.
Took to have ajusted on machince at M/B service and they told me it was a leaky
intake manifold, and wanted $1600.00 to fix it. I almost dropped to my knees
because another mech. I've had some work done by told me it was listed as 6 hr.
job. He said $600.00 unless he had problems w/bolts snapping of and then it
depened on time. I once had a 88 560 sel and it was not passing and a different
guy put a BB in the hose of the map sensor and it passed perfect, but can't
remenber if that one was running rich or lean. But when they opened the hood for
that fume test the tester squeezed the map hose to check. Any Ideas on what I
should do w/ this car, all health problems I've had, have had me on my back for
alittle of 9 Months and can't even walk over 20 ft.
I broken the same ankle 3 times in the past year because of the leg giving out.
Couldn't have invasof Surgery because of comidin for heart. I was just thinking
of getting rid of it as, and eating the loss.
Thanks,
Clayton Moizo
