Jonathan,
I would plan on replacing ALL the fluids as they are Quite overdue. All the rubber seals/breathers on the engine as the M119 generates a Lot of heat, coupled with the age and I promise they are leaking un-metered air.

What is the estimated cost?

verify that the soft top functions sans leaks.. also be prepared for some pretty Serious expense when the soft top actuators do start to leak.. You can get the actuators remaned cheaply enough, but most of them require some Serious labour to access.

And the cost here?

I'd expect the struts to be shot, as well as the shocks...they just get Weak with age. Diff mounts are likely done as well...these have been superceeded to an improved design.

What are the cost here?

Oh, keep an ear out for any ticking from the top end..cam oiler tubes are a common item..there are 16 of them and the job gets pretty pricey @ around 20/per plus labour!

I will talk to my mechanic on that.

Ronny

Actually, the CISE M119's did not suffer the same wiring fate their LH counter parts had to deal with:)

That said, I Love my 91...it only has 25,XXX miles but still needed Love from sitting...
It's a blast to drive.. I added H&R springs and bilstein sports all around..coupled w/ a set of 18' Aero II's w/ PS2's. Triple digit sweepers are a Wonderful thing... The early m119's are more exciting to drive IME.

Price seems reasonable, but do yourself a favour and get a Thorough PPI done.

These are nice cars, I think that the 1991's had CIS-E injection like the 560SEC. You need to watch out wiring harness issues as they can degrade prematurely. Another issue to worry about is the soft top hydraulics. Other then that, I know very little about these cars although i'm sure others will chime in.

Close to my home is a fine 500 SL 1991 for sale.
White and light beige interior and has 18" wheels and the front tires are about 40%.
The car was the car of a woman and her spouse has 5 cars on the lot.
In 10 years she has added as a second owner 13,000 miles to the car and the mileage is just 55,000.
They bought the car from a friend. In the 10 years the car had a couple oil changes and a front break job.
He has all the records and let me have the car tested.
Asking price is $8500.
He is selling it, because his wife just gets a new Cadillac SUV.

What do you think and please give me some advice.
