[W126 Coupe] starts and cuts out

        We are working on an '87, with a nearly identical issue.

        The fuel filter was changed to brand new (should have 

seen the gunk), but, it didn't help.  We have now narrowed 

it down to the fuel pumps or the ignition tumbler, since 

both pumps are cutting in-and-out.  If you carry lots of

keys on a chain, it may be the tumbler has gone bad.

Endless discussion about this in the archives.  I'll give an

update Saturday eve.  You may want to start with something

very simple: loosen each line on top of the fuel distributor

and see if you get a steady flow of gas.  Hopefully, it is

something simple, not an involved/expensive electrical item.

Hi all

 

I drive my 1988 560sec to my office today and parked and when I went to
leave it started and then stalled and would not start again.  it starts but
only runs for maybe 3 or 4 sec and cuts out.  any ideas
