[W126 Coupe] Replacing windshield on W126

        OK, Ernie, here is the scoop on the windshield.  It costs

        $185-.  It needs to be ordered.  The outfit (Independent 

Glass) will not ship it (for insurance reasons).  Their sealant

is $10/tube.  It is killer stuff.  I wouldn't use anything else.

I would order 2 tubes, just to be safe.  It's for windshields,

specifically.

You can install it yourself (my buddy & I did mine), without

much fuss or muss.  Mine does not leak.  We probably 

used more sealant than needed, but that puppy will not 

move or leak.  I can walk you through the installation.  

Let me know if you go in that direction.  Independent is 

willing to provide a box to ship it in.  I can package it up.

I am interested for sure; I hope that the local glass shop finds someone
closer to home (Boise, ID) but if not it is good to know that it can be
found someplace.  If you would, please tell me who to call.

Hey Ernie.  I'm on my 3rd. windshield.  No problem getting

one and I didn't even search that long.  Right here in little

old Jacksonville, FL.  It wasn't that much, either.  Your shipping

cost may be up there, depending on where you are.  Can't

believe one is not available near you.  Let me know if you

are interested.  Fit was nearly perfect and these guys will

throw in some awesome sealant.

I was just informed by the glass shop that they couldn't give me an estimate
for replacing the windshield on my 87 560 SEC because they couldn't find a
replacement . . . .not even from the dealer!  Does anyone have a source for
windshields?
