Nope, shouldn't be green. It should be tan/brown color. New MB hydraulic oil
is clear, commercial grade tends to be a tan color, older fluid gets to the
color of maple syrup. Is this a change from a color noted earlier??
I'd suggest emptying the system (reservoir metal line into a 2L soda bottle
with the engine running) and then refill with fresh fluid. Using the John
Deere hydraulic fluid would be fine. I'd refill the system, run it around
the block and take a sample of the reservoir fluid to check color, then
check it a week later to see if it changed.
There is no connection between the antifreeze and the hydraulic fluid
anywhere so there shouldn't be a change.
Thanks,
Mike Ramay

Hey Mike - I played around with the pump (loosened the hex-head bolts and
the lines into and out of the pump) to see what problems I might have. I
will do the work Sunday morning.
The odd situation I have is that the hydraulic oil is now green like the
engine coolant. Should that be happening or is something other than the pump
wrong?
I have the O-rings, a gasket, and the shaft seal ready to go, but don't want
to pull the pump, replace the parts and re-install it if I am going to have
to pull it out again. I don't know why the hydraulic oil is green.
