Subject: [W126 Coupe] Remote door lock fob
When I got my 1990 560 SEC three years ago, the previous owner had installed a BergWerks Keyless Entry system, apparently in 2003. I don't know if he installed the system himself, or had Bergwerks do it for him since he lived in CA at the time.
The remote worked fine until this morning, when the "plunger" that activates the internal switch broke off, exposing the switch underneath.
I have managed to temporarily tape it in place, but would like to get a new "fob" if they still exist anywhere, since the keyless entry itself works fine under the tape, and the second fob that came with the car is still intact. I don't know if the fob was provided by Bergwerks with the kit, or if the fob is a MB issue that came with the car.
I Googled Bergwerks, and the only useful report indicated they closed up in 2005.
The fob itself is black plastic, rectangular (1 1/4" x 2" x about 1/2 "), and has two (2) activation buttons marked "I" and "II".
Beneath the activation buttons are the words "Your Valet", and on the reverse side the logo DEI over the phrase "Des. 340,000". There is a phone number embossed on the reverse (1-800-274-0200), but the robo response doesn't lead me anywhere. At the bottom of the reverse side is the following:
RPN491
68 Billion
Rolling Codes
FCC ID: EZSDE1490
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
