[W126 Coupe] rear screen heater

Hi Axel,

Thanks for the reply, but luckily (or unluckily) depending on which way you look at it, there is no sign of the delamination returning on the replacement rear window, and no, I have not had the windows tinted. Not had enough sunshine here in the UK to justify tinted windows, (so much for global warming).

Also, thanks Dick for the suggestion on checking the connections at the window. As I said, I have not checked many things yet and would never belittle anybody's suggestions and info. In fact, instead of calling it obvious, I would say that it is very sensible. Same goes for the info Axel has provided. Thanks again to both of you. I will let you know what I find when the weather get's a bit warmer here so I can hang upside down dangling out of the trunk to check things out (not enough room in the garage, so need to be done outside).

Regards,

Vance.

Vance,

The usual problems with the rear defroster is delamination of the glass and cutting the conductors when installing tint film.

You said you replaced the rear window due to delamination already, but has the problem reappeared and have you tinted you windows?

I was wondering if anyone has come across a common connection fault with the power feed to the rear screen heater. I haven't checked many things yet, but the light does come on when you switch it on, and the fuse is OK as well. It looks like there is a break in a connection somewhere between the fuse and the rear demister itself.
I had the rear screen replaced way back (delamination problem) and it worked fine from then up to about 6 months ago.
Any info to shorten my search is most welcome.
Cheers,

Vance Rowley
