Research all you like, when I see a car rock that hard it doesn't leave me
feeling warm and fuzzy.

Have a day :-P

For S&G's I just took my 560 AMG 32V, 500SL, C36 and 300E AMG which were
all stored in the shop in neutral w/ the parking brake on..
Took the brake off and put the cars in park, proceeded to Rock them back
as hard as I could. The MOST I could get out of any car was about 4 inches
and that was the C36 which we just picked up the other day w/ 115K on the
clock.

Your empirical evidence is your experience. I can tell you that there are
others who have other experiences such as I have had. I am going to do
more research on this but I can say that your absolute conclusion that "only
ones that do rock to such a degree have been neglected in that the owner(s)
never engaged the parking brake before putting the car in park" does
disservice to those of us who do not fit your description of neglectful owners
or who have experiences with these cars that differ from yours. As I said
before, I have checked with a MBZ mechanic and the answer was "The roll in
park is normal. Mercedes uses very few teeth on their park lock gear so
you'll get some roll before the pawl engages."

It seems clear that your ego is at stake here so you too, in fact, should
have a good day.
