I was not talking about "rocking". I am talking about a movement --
perhaps as great as 5-6 inches that occurs when the transmission is put in park,
the engine shut off and the foot brake released on level ground. I have
had it occur in these cars which I bought all new and I provided, as I do now
to my 560SEC, excellent professional mechanical care. I would agree that
parking on an incline with the transmission in park without the parking
brake engaged will cause undue stress on the parking pin. I have checked with a
MBZ mechanic and the answer was "The roll in park is normal. Mercedes uses
very few teeth on their park lock gear so you'll get some roll before the
pawl engages."
