Looking for suggestions.
Lately the coolant level warning light on the dash of my 1990 560 SEC (166,500 miles) has been illuminating dimly after the car warms up. It stays lit most of the time, but not ALL the time. The engine never runs hot, and stays between 80 deg and 90 deg on the hottest days we have had this summer, in traffic, etc.
I checked the overflow reservoir and it appears full within the specifications, when cold and hot, and there is no indication of a leak that I can see.
I am assuming it is probably a problem with a sensor, somewhere. Where is the thing located, and is it a very simple fix?
Or is this an indicator of a deeper problem that can't be handled by my non mechanically oriented brain, and should go to someone who knows their stuff..
I appreciate any input.
