Henry - I went a bit further and disassembled the relay and found more than
a few metal shavings/old solder bouncing around inside. Cleaned it with a
soft wire brush re-assembled it, sealed it, tested it and now use it as my
spare.

I had a Fuel Pump Relay problem (1991 560 SEC) for a while without knowing
what the problem was, but I forcefully "jiggled" the relay without taking it
out and the car started.

The situation reoccurred and the "jiggling" got the car to start
immediately. So I removed the relay, cleaned the pins and sockets the pins
fit into with some electronic cleaner I got from Radio Shack and I haven't
had the problem since.
