You need to give it time to bleed itself through, as you aren't going to get
that much antifreeze in there super quick. I always fill up the reservoir,
then grab the top radiator hose and squeeze it until I hear the fluid being
sucked through. I'd be careful running the engine for too long until you
get the right amount of fluid in there. Hopefully your thermostat wasn't
stuck closed and not letting fluid flow through? I've never done it your
way draining the block so not sure how much fluid is in there.
