[W126 Coupe] Blower Motor Issue - Sam

 Sign of the times:
To replace my blower motor fuse I mad a mistake by going to my local MB dealer in Santa Monica.
I went to the parts dept. and showed the young man behind the counter the broken fuse and told him I wanted this.
He looked at it and said (no kidding) "what's that?"
Perplexed and taken aback I regrouped and said "Ummmm, its a fuse for my '91 560 SEC blower motor."
Then he said "Do you have the part number?"
"No, its only a fuse"
He started to look at the computer screen punching the keyboard and said " Is that a 4-door, 2 door , station wagon or convertible?"
I answered " Its from a 2 door, there were no station wagons or convertibles". More punching the keyboard.
He then said "Where is this fuse from.Is it in the engine compartment or passenger compartment?" 
Well he worked another 15 minutes on the computer and couldn't find it so I went to the service manager.
The service manager was wearing a white lab coat and greeted me with a "Hi how can I help you?"
So I showed him the fuse and told him his parts guy couldn't identify it "So can you go tell him what this is?'"
After looking at it, this was his answer. "The German guy that can identify it is out on his break now, but he will be back in half an hour"
I usually do not get frustrated or lose my cool but I was getting real close. So I grabbed a mechanic and told him the story.
He went back and got the part number so I went back to the parts guy and he was able to find it.
Total time spent: 1 hour 15 minutes from the time I drove in their parking lot to when I left.

I'll check the Blower Motor "Foil Fuse" that's?NOT in the main fuse box... Good to know this!


Certainly beats replacing a $300 + Blower Motor... ;-)
