OK here goes
I have done the drivers window using Goof-Off and Glass Plus window cleaner and here is my assessment.
The Goof-Off works very well but there is a technique.
a.. Use a clean rag (one per window because they will get gummed up) either a new shop rag (no metal filings) or old face cloth / hand towel cut into quarters. (I went for a new shop rag as it would have more roughness and rubbing/scouring ability as opposed to a smooth cotton T-shirt.)
b.. Wear industrial rubber gloves to protect your hands (the thin ones used for staining will melt). ;-(
c.. Work in a well ventilated area or you will get a contact high (Work in the cool shade so the Goof Off doesn't evaporate before you can apply it).
d.. Put some Goof Off on a section of the rag and apply to the entire window surface. (This will turn the adhesive cloudy so you can see where to spend the effort.)
e.. Continue to apply Goof Off to a section of the rag and rub the adhesive off of a small section of the window. As the adhesive comes off it will gum up the rag so use a clean area of the rag for each new section of the window. (One rag, one window. The goo may wash out but I doubt it. I think the rag is toast.)
f.. When all the adhesive is removed and a thin haze remains, Switch to your window cleaner and paper towels.
g.. Time? About 15 minutes to totally clean the drivers window of the Limo Tint residue.
I believe Goo Gone and laquer thinner will do the job as will brake cleaner. (I am using what I have on hand and have already paid for.)
I question what Goof Off (and the others) might do to anything that is not glass. I used the rag with some Goof Off on it to clean the window rubber but immediately neutralized it with the window cleaner and paper towels. It cleaned up the rubber very well and made it look nice and clean. I do not think this should be done often or harsh cleaners left on the rubber too long.
What ever you use, good luck and work safe.
Thanks for the suggestions.
