[W126 Coupe] antenna problem

I live in Florida where the mast tends to rust the thinnest part of the
mast.  I purchased a new one and installed it with no problem... some time
later I had to remove it again and during the reinstall I had some problems
which resulted in the motor continuing to ratchet for a few seconds as the
mast reached either extreme.
Solution was to replace the mast with a new one.... No further problems.
If you think it may fix your problem, I've seen them on Ebay in the range of
$17 - 20.
