I sold it to a guy in southern Illinois. As far as I know he still has it.

I recall someone whom purchased a 126 SEC with a diesel conversion from a guy on eBay. He had sent some correspondence to this group blog and I was wondering if he was still with the group?

Im just curious as to how he diesel S Class Coupe is doing?

GlacierMy 1987 560SEC has very minor leaks from some pipes coming and going to
the transmission and from the side of the tranny.
Will an additive like StopLeak work or is that not recommended?

Hi Stein and Jay,

Actually the wire from the sensor (affixed under your front bumper)
ruins in one complete harness up your fender well and to a connector
under the fuse holder tray. It is the only cable carrying both (-)
voltage and (+) voltage to traverse the underside of your fuse tray. It
is also a possible point of trouble should the ground come in contact
with the hot side of any of the fuse holder terminals. This was a
problem in 86 and earlier MB's where the harness insulation melted and
you had ground contacting hot power with no fuse to break the circuit.

To check..disconnect your battery ground then remove the screw sets on
the fuse tray and lift from the front upward. Look for a 2-wire cable
and connector. The cable from the sensor is connected to the cable
running to your IC at this point. If you see any signs of heat on the
cable insulation, you have found your problem.

In either case bad cable or bad sensor this is where the replacement
sensor plugs into the cabin IC harness. If you need detail on repairing
the IC harness due to insulation failure. Send me a note.

Regards,
Dick

Ronny,

Either replace the crush washers at the fittings or replace those
transmission cooler lines and the hoses. No additive to the tranny.
It's normal to see some build-up of road gunk on the rubber hoses that
run from steel lines to radiator if the connections are weeping. If you
have a live leak as in dripping it needs to be repaired.

Take care,
Dick

Hi Folks
As a general check on running voltage,I have a modified cigarette lighter
plug that takes two leads from a Fluke digital multimeter set to volts which
I set up inside the car on the centre console, voltage can then be observed
while driving with various pieces of electrical components in use.I find it
quite useful and if you have a few vehicles easy to transfer from car to
car.

Kind Regards Dan 1986 560SEC (220KW)

Hello Benny,

That vibration and noise from your front left wheel, when does it manifest
itself?

You stated that it becomes noticeable at speed (100 - 120 Kph). Absolutely
nothing before that? Is this in a straight line? Does the noise change between
left curve and right curve?

If you're positive the wheels are properly balances and have even wear
all-around, I'd take it to the MB dealership for a 4-wheel alignment. You may
have worn front suspension components (tie rods, dog bones, steering damper,
shocks, springs, binding calipers, engine mounts, bushings, etc.) and the
dealership should be able to tell you what needs to be changed after an
alignment job.

As for your bumper chrome. I suppose it can be an issue to find good, non-rusty,
used ones in Denmark, but the dealership prices will make your hair stand up.
There are a number of used parts dealers in the UK that may be of help and the
German eBay is useful too.

Regards,

It may be any of the items mentioned by Axel, however if you have
fairly high miles or lots of suspension travel on 'back roads', it is
probably your lower ball-joints. They wear out pretty quickly.
