I'm gonna get totallly off the subject here because I'm new to mbcoupes.com and I want to show or add my sec to the gallery but I don't know how to go about it. When I signed up it instructed me to sent all pictures to an e-mail with a specific subject. When I tried to do that my computer said that that address didn't exist any more and couldn't complete the send. As for your brake job, I haven't experienced a pad worth recomending- I think I'll try those Akebono pads Jay reccomended. The pads I have now have good stopping power but the amount of brake dust coupled with my chrome wheels makes a really bad combination. Anyway, if anyone can steer me in the right direction an how to get my pictures added I think you'll all enjoy them. Thanks everyone and one last note about the brake job... The ability to stop isn't an area to cut any corners. I'm sure you all know how much any front end damage can cost. I learned the hard way and just the aux. fan which went into the a/c condenser which went into the radiator, which went into the primary fan was roughly 1000.00. You don't even want to think about a new hood, headlights and bodywork. I literally cried. But I've wa nted one of these since I fisrt saw them in 83 and now that I have one I will take it to my grave. Thanks to whoever helps me get started because I'm confident any enthusiast is really going to enjoy these pictures.

I like Akebono pads, absolutely no brake dust, or squeal. Will never us MB pads again.
keep cruisin

I just completed a complete brake system over haul on my 500sec. At first I got the slotted/ drilled Brembo rotors but ended up replacing them. They provide great stopping power if you are racing on a track. But for everyday driving they are way too hard on whatever kind of pad you decide to get. As for ceramic pads they are supposed to create less brake dust than metallic pads. As for the caliper rebuild kits. I found just about everything I needed at AutohausAz.com. Their prices are as good as I could find and their inventory (in my experience) is unmatched. Hope that helps, good luck

I like ATE slotted w/ Porterfield R4S's and braided lines. ATE Super blue will cover Most people, but the R4S's will generate more heat then the fluid can take if you're hauling down from solid triple digits w/ any Force... In which case Castrol SRF or Motul 660 works Quite nicely. If you need to cool them further leave the dust shields off.

Does anyone have any experience upgrading the pads and rotors on a 560 SEC? Mine are due for replacement and I was thinking about ceramic pads and drilled rotors.
Any suggestions, experiences and sources would be appreciated. Is it worth the additional cost? Also, does anyone know where to get a rebuild kit for the calipers?
Thanks
Mark
