Steve,

You can access the mechanism by taking the back of the driver's seat off. Nothing to it; just lean the seatback all the way forward and you'll see two screws at the bottom. Remove those and the seatback plate comes off. I think the nut holding the armrest in place is 27 mm and rather difficult to remove.

Subject: [W126 Coupe] Armrest issue



I can't get the armrest in my 1987 560SEC to move back in the up position to give me access to the center console, it only goes forward (down). Apparently the mechanism has slipped 180 degrees. I can't figure how to get into to armrest to correct this, anyone know the fix?
