There are many ways to check the compression.
Check it dry you got 95 lbs.
Add a spoonful of engine oil crank it a few turns, then check the compression again, if it increases dramatically it's a scored cylinder or broken ring or both.
If nothing changes it's likely a burnt valve.
The excess oil consumption you are experiencing sounds like cylinder, piston and or oil ring.
If you want to be triple certain before ripping it apart do a leak test.
That involves a special fitting to install in stead of a spark plug. Make sure the piston of the cylinder in question is in the top position with both valves closed.
take socket wrench with a long Johnson bar to the crankshaft bolt to prevent the engine from turning. Introduce compressed air to the cylinder via the special fitting. Remove the oil filler cap and the air filter and open the throttle.
If you hear rushing air from the oil filler hole it's your cylinder.
If you hear air rushing from the intake it's a leaking intake valve.
If you hear air rushing out the exhaust pipe it's an exhaust valve.
Nothing to it.

I can't believe the kind of problems I read about Mercedes-Benz cars.
I have a 1989 Volvo 240, a cheap little Swedish car with a 2.3 litre 4 cylinder engine. It' gone past 400,000 km's that's more than 250,000 miles it just keep on running and never burns any oil and it's never been touched, what gives?
Too bad they don't make them like that any more.
