I bought a 500SE engine to replace the seized engine that was in my 500 
SEC when I bought it.
When I examined the rubber below the air metering plate on the one from 
the SEC, I noticed that it was cracked, as I was warned to expect. 

The one from the 500SE was cast aluminum though.

The only difference between the two assemblies other than the material, 
is that on the rubber one, it extended all the way down to the throttle 
body, with a single band clamp to secure it at that end.
On the 500SE version, it requires a ~3 inch diameter rubber tube to jump 
from the plenum to the throttle body, and two band clamps, one at top 
and bottom.

If I add boost, I'll have to follow one of the other's suggestion of the 
reinforcement for that rubber tube, but I no longer have the rubber 
plenum chamber to flex as well.

Notice that the idle air plumbing is into an aluminum housing, rather 
than into rubber like in this shot.

I don't know if this is what you were asking about, or if you were 
talking about the piece that is coupling the plenum area to the throttle 
body.  Since you mentioned the work that SuperchargedSEC did, I seem to 
remember him fabricating a replacement after rupturing the rubber section.
