  The cable comes in to the driver's side, then there's a cable from the driver's side to pass side.  I wonder if you can get a stick, screwdriver, etc in there to push the remaining piece over or if the whole thing broke off.  If it did break off, I still wonder if you can get a good light in there to see the latch that is left and catching on the hood mechanism, and move it over enough to release.

  The whole lever piece appears to be broken. I found the finger push part of it. With out the safety relases working the hood only raises about 3/4 inch and even with a strong light you can't see anything except the upper assembly. From looking at the left side it appears that the release pulls out of the lower unit from the side that faces the center line of the car. Is there a way to get at it from the bottom, even if requires removing the bumper assy.?
