[W126 Coupe] hood problem

 I appear to have a major problem and am looking for help. I have a 91 560 SEC
and the passenger side safety hood realease---the one you press in with your
finger---has broken! I found the part you press in lwith your finger laying
above the bumper and was able to get it out with a pair of hemeostats, but the
other half I am assuming is still in the in the release yoke or what evcer you
call it. I do think I heard 2 items fall when I pushed in on the lever so the
other half may or may not be in the that yoke. Either way I can not get the
passenger side of the hood to release so I can open the hood. The drivers side
works perfectly. How do I get the safety latch to release so I can get the
hood open? Did MB provide a fail safe for just such an occassion? You
expertize would be greatly appreciated.
