[W126 Coupe] '91 for sale

The depreciation on some car is truly staggering.

The other day, just out of curiosity, I checked out what the prices were for a car I once owned, a 2001 Audi S8. I forget what it cost new, somewhere above $75,000 I think.

They can now be found for as little as $12,000.

Ya, I looked at my car on Kelly Blue Book and was shocked as well, hence the asking price of $5000 knowing that it needs some work.

Jay,

Sorry to hear about your car. Be prepared to hear it wasn't worth much. Why? The bottom has really dropped on these cars. Here's a great example - only 66K miles, and look at the price, and it doesn't look too bad...

Unless you are getting a widebody, AMG, or really rare optioned car, they don't seem to be worth much anymore, even with low mileage...which is sad for those of that own them, but good for someone looking to buy I guess.

Just tried to call you. I had also tried to call Mike, but as usual, he doesn't answer. I'll probably have to see if he's interested in them. Otherwise, if I find another coupe in good condition, I could always put them on it. I really liked the way the car looked with them. I messaged Mendel up in PA to see what he might have. Also, Jono is going to do some checking around his area and has offered to help me deal with the insurance co. I would think that with his expertise on W126s, he could help convince them of the true worth as opposed to NADA book.

My goodness. I wish I could help you with theadjuster, but the last time I dealt with an adjuster was when I had a rental carthat someone plowed into in FL. The other guy (who received a ticket anddeclared at fault by the police) had Progressive Car Insurance. They arenotorious for not paying. They would only pay half the cost of the repairstating that their guy was not at fault, even though the cops said he was. Hopefully you don't have Progressive. My company (USAA) was great! Regardless of what they do with the car, insist that you take the wheels. Ifthey total it, I wouldn't think that would be a problem. I will send youpictures of the car tomorrow. My wheels are a more sporty upgrade wheel ratherthan the original, but not AMG. Ralph D. I lost mine early this morning in a retention pond. Thecar sank completely under water, so I'm sure the insurance company willtotal it. this car had 160,000 on it and was in nice shape. The only issue withit was the blower motor regulator. What's really bad is that it has 3 pc.AMG wheels. I still have the original 15" wheels but no tires mounted onthem or I might be able to switch them out. I feel that I'll probably getlowballed by the adjuster and need advice on how to deal with them. JaySarasota'91 560SEC r.i.p.
