[W126 Coupe] ? about car paint

Gary,

The real issue is whether you want only parts of it painted or the whole car. As Dick said, any good quality paint shop can match the original factory paint. All paints fade over time, the darker the paint the more the fade. If you only want parts of it painted, e.g. hood and lid (as mine needs), the shop will need to feather it in so the hood and lid match the faded paint on the sides. I found this out when pricing out a paint job for my 91, which needs paint really only on the hood and lid. What I found out was that it was only about 25% more to have the whole car painted because the matching and feathering was expensive.
