Yes, AMG certainly did modify lots of sedans, including the 560 SEL. It would not surprise me if in fact AMG modified more sedans than they did coupes. However, I'm also fairly certain that more coupes survive than sedans.
 
I've got a couple of AMG catalogs, a German one from 1984 and the North American AMG catalog from 1987, and they both have lots of photos of modified sedans (and W201s, w123s, w116, w107s, w124s).
 
Keep in mind that AMG was an independent tuner at the time and sold parts as well as offering their in-house shop so unless there is a paper trail with the car, there is no telling who modified a vehicle with AMG parts.

Did  AMG ever make an full fledged 560 SEL model or are there just some AMG parts available for the SEL? I believe I have seen photos of a 500 SEL AMG.
 
If they did make one what years and where do you think I could find some decent photos on the net or different literature?
 
I'm directing the question to Axel due to his recent input concerning AMG, but if anyone is aware I would appreciate their input.  Different MB aficionados have given me different answers in the past if the AMG 560 SEL ever existed.
