These are excellent points and may help guide us as to the modifications
with which we feel most comfortable. It seems quite correct that it is likely
that the 560 SEC would come with different size wheels and tires in these
current times. I have so much confidence in these German automotive engineers
that I am reluctant to do too much even though the technology has greatly
advanced.
Having said that, and recognizing that I may be asking a rather open-ended
question, what kind of repair/restoration of the front end suspension do you
believe is necessary given the fact that I am only guessing at how the
original suspension felt and worked. My 560 SEC has 128K miles with good
maintenance over those miles but it seems a little loose -- vertically -- in the front
end with some sort of minor verticle "play" when I go over a railroad grade
crossing, etc. The tires are wearing evenly and there seems to be no "pull"
from left or right when tracking down the road. I'd like to consider
"rebuilding" the front end suspension inorder to get the original "ride" back if
possible but I don't want to do more than necessary or otherwise waste money.
