[W126 Coupe] ? on interior lights

my interior light doesn't turn on when i open the door.  (i do have the headliner pad off and the back seat light disconnected.)  i don't have my fuse card so i don't know what fuse is the interior light fuse, although all the fuses look ok.  if its  not the fuse what could it be.  the light works in all other positions.
