[W126 Coupe] question about mbz radio

took out my radio but never disconneted it...however it still shut down.  now i have dashes.  i did as you guys said and went to mbz guy, he said i have to bring it in and they have to take the face plate off and use a key to get it back on.  is this true.  he said because of the dashes this is the procedure?  can i get a key somewhere?  

i'm now thinking of putting in a cd/mp3 player...was wondering what problems will i encounter.  can i just switch out the speakers and put the player using the original wiring? 

here's a tip on taking out the radio without those special tools...you will need those little screwdrive bits, they are about 1/2 inch long and you will also need a screwdrive.  what i did was, i slowly pushed down with the screwdriver on the metal clips just enough where i could slide a screwdrive bit between the base of the radio and the clip.  the metal clip locks on to the bit and holds the clip partially open...enough to just slide out the radio.  easy.
