My gun was new but in this case the torque rating was 450 ft/lbs, which I
think is removal torque with a lower value for tightening. Your guns sound
like they have a more than sufficient rating.

The MB lug bolts didn't have any Loctite and I was the one that put them on
the car, torquing them to 80 ft/lbs with a clicking torque wrench. My Costco
1/2" impact gun would not remove them, hence the Mac Tools gun. Seems like I
went from poor quality to one of the better guns in one move.

Hi Mike,
This BOSCH air gun is rated at 229 ftlbs but I have come to the conclusion
that ratings are irelevant. Actual performance is what matters.
Compare a Ford Mustang or a Corvette to a Mercedes-Benz 560 SEC, both of
these cars may have more hp's than the M-B. However by the time they are
finished making a lot of noise and smoke the M-B is at its destination.
It depends not as much on hp's and psi ratings but how the thing is designed
and works.
I have a Ford camper with dual wheels on the back. they are torqued to 155
lbs.
I had all the rear wheels off a week ago to replace the brakes. The first
lug nut came off so easy that I thought that I had forgot to tighten them
before. So I checked the others and they were torqued properly. I tried to
losen one with the torque wrench and it took at least 175 ftlbs to break it
loose. Next I went about removing the remaining lug nuts and they came off
just like the first one.
Another thing is that your gun may be old and worn. This one is brand new
and produced with up to date technology. All I can say is that I am totally
pleased with mine, it has more than enough power for what I need it for.
Is it possible that your bolts had a coating of loctite on the threads?
