I just got done fixing a problem on my car that had a similar symptom.

In my car's case, it had managed to get the front guide off of the 
track, and when it got to the top of the travel range, it was binding up 
and pushing the bottom of the window outboard, wedging the glass against 
the seals.
I fixed it by pulling the inner door panel off, lowering the window, 
removing the guide block and putting it back on the track.

While I was there, I cleaned up the old dirty grease and re-lubed the 
tracks and the sliding jaw areas of the regulator.  I'm going to have to 
do a little tuning to get it all to slide the way I think it should, but 
it doesn't bind any more.
