Axel,

If you do this won't you end up with non-matching impedence and therefore if I remember correctly, will reduce the quality of your audio output. The best way to get clear crisp audio is to match impedence between signal and speaker.

David

Mmmm.......No, your Becker radio does not "put out 2 ohm". Ohm is resistance, your head unit puts out AC at constant voltage at variable amp (ampere).

Don't worry about the rated resistance of speakers, its only a aproximate number anyway. The resistance of a speakers varies across the frequency spectrum and is a lot higher at high frequencies.

All else being equal (which they never are....), a 2 ohm speaker will play a bit louder than an otherwise identical 4 ohm speaker.

Just buy aftermarket 4 ohm speakers that will fit in the stock locations.

i'm just going to replace the speakers

and i remember someone posted that the speakers needed to be compatiable with the radio...something about ohms i.e. mbz radio puts out 2 ohms so the speaker had to be 2 ohm i'm not sure if that's how i remember it...

anyone know.
