I tried several rental agencies and Avis looks pretty good for a mini-van from 12/6 to 1/12, SFO to MEM. New vehicle (warranty) and no worries about selling it when you get to the other end. The mileage might be a restriction but I only did a quickie look at rentals. YMMV

        My 3 sons and I are coming to the US for a road trip, starting in San Francisco on the 6th of December and leaving out of Memphis on the 12th of January.
        My boys age from 18-29 and are big lads, 6' to 6'4" and we want to buy a big cheap car/van/pick-up for the trip from somwhere close to San Francisco. We are not after flash but reliable would be nice.
        At the end of the trip the vehicle will be up for grabs at a nominal price. We don't want to spend any more than $3K and half that would be fantastic!
