Hi guys,
We are a bit lucky down under as we have the above company that only insures
"special" cars and motor cycles.
They also have frequent vehicle auctions for cars that meet this criterion
of "special".
Last year when I flattened a kangaroo and he flattened my bonnet was my one
and only claim - the final cost was about A$15k to do the repair.
Shannons allowed me to select the repairer (great painters and clean, clean
shops are hard to find.
After taking some 2 weeks to decide who had the job, the insurance company
put the car on a flat top and drove it the 300km - all under the policy.
There were only 3 replacement aluminum bonnets in Australia available at the
time, 2 were rejected by the repairer and I inspected the 3rd with both of
us agreeing it was acceptable.
The repair took 6 weeks as every part was to be delivered before they would
start.
The paintwork was brilliant, the repair faultless except for reshimming the
bonnet which I preferred to do.
Light assembly, grill, bumper, radiator and air condenser were all replaced
from new MB parts.
Shannons called me 3 times during the before, during and after the job to
ensure that things were progressing to my own satisfaction.
During the whole program there was never any discussion about making any
cheaper concessions on the repair - now that is a great policy!
The premium is not the first question to ask it should always be the level
of the quality and control of the repair should you have a crash.
The repairer made money and was pleased with getting the specialist work
opportunity.
The cost is A$72 per month and the cover is A$25k.
