[W126 Coupe] What's wrong with everybody today?

Mr. Nervig really nailed it on the head with his post.. It's
ABSOLUTELY worth paying a few extra bucks for the value-added
knowledge that a good, experienced parts guy can and will impart.

Meaning, when you purchase something, a value-added parts guy is going
to KNOW and tell you that you ALSO NEED all of the "dependent" parts
such as gaskets, fasteners and other things required by the job. Only
years of knowledge and experience can provide this level of value-add,
and we've got two stellar guys right here on the list who have it.

A $5.00 order-taker will be happy to take your money and ship you your
part overnight. But you're going to get the part, be half-way through
the job, and realize that there are other parts required (or
connectors that you broke, yadda yadda) that you need, and now you
have to order them and wait the time to get them.

It's also one reason why I continue to get many if not most of my
parts at my local indy, MBI Motors. They parts manager there has been
in the business for 40 years and can tell me from memory exactly every
part I will need to do just about any job on my 560SL, 560SEC, E320T
or E500, not just provide the "big part" that needs replacing. Rick
won't let me leave the shop unless I have everything I need to do the
job right, and that includes things like brake cleaner spray, lubes
and fluids, and so forth. He's not trying to make an extra buck --
he's trying to make sure I'm successful in doing the job.

Jonathan and Rusty are exactly the same way.
