If anyone can lend any ideas here, it would be much appreciated.
After installing the "new" engine in my SEC, I finally went to turn it
over a bit to pump some oil up into the engine, and ATF through the
tranny plumbing.
While renewing the engine before reinstalling it, I installed a rebuilt
starter. The new starter differs slightly from the old starter in the
terminal arrangement, in that it has two smaller terminals slightly
separated from each other, rather than the two terminals that were only
separated by a plastic divider on the old starter.
At first, the starter wouldn't respond, so I switched the terminal on it
for the solenoid control wire, at which point it wouldn't stop once I
jumpered it at the terminal block.
Once I had interrupted the endless cranking by removing the battery
terminal, I am now scratching my head trying to figure out what went
wrong. I can't seem to find a good wiring diagram to reference as to
which terminal on the terminal row should have power, switched power, or
start only power. Currently, all the terminals appear to be connected
to B+, even when the ignition is off.
I decided that it was time to take a break and think on this some more,
while not staring at it.
Any ideas on what I managed to mess up in hooking it up?
