[W126 Coupe] SEC engine/transmission question

Well, I finally got it installed.

After getting fed up with messing with it (again), I loaded it up in a
friend's truck, and wandered down to a local MB indy in the area. He
poked at it just as I had, and referred me to a transmission shop that
did I'd had others mention as well.
Once I got the transmission to that shop, the owner who does all the MB
tranny work took a quick look at it, and noticed that the stator shaft
splines were slightly mushroomed.

He pulled out a disassembled MB torque converter and tested all the
splines, proving that the stationary shaft was the suspect one, and then
upended the transmission again.
After bouncing the TC against the splines a few times, he took a plastic
handled hammer and thumped the top of the TC a few times with the handle
of the hammer. Three or four taps, and the TC dropped into place.

I guess there was some worth to the tongue in cheek suggestion of
applying a dead blow hammer!

Once that was done, the tranny was reintroduced to the engine,
associated bits bolted back on, and the duo have moved into their new
home, in the car. I have to finish wiring, plumbing, and bolting the
various "extra" bits back in place, but I have hopes that it will be
driving this week.

Thanks again for your input, all!
