[W126 Coupe] vacuum pump for 140 chassis and abs sensor

Bellamy,

The vacuum pump that I bought is a Hella unit and the replacement that I was looking at is also a programa unit, but they both have similar numbers with the last three the same. I love your advice for the window regulator. I should have been thinking that all along, but the window creeps down about an inch and I hate the road noise. As far as the door closers go, if I have to give them a good slam, that's how it will be. But, you just made me smile this morning, because those are mostly all of the same thoughts that I had about everything except the window regulator.

Hi John;

The vacuum pumps used in all the models look similar, but generally can not be interchanged. Unfortunately, the '92 140 chassis vacuum pump for central locking and "comfort group" appears to be an uncomfortable topic. The Mercedes part number I have for that car is 013 200 63 99... which is the 4th or 5th updated replacement part issue for that car. I BELIEVE that the latest replacement part might involve some electrical and vacuum line modifications to the car to adapt this upgrade. The dealer may know.

Do you have the Mercedes part number from the pump you bought? (Should be on the bottom of it). Was it for a '92 300SD?

I am confused as to how you know the part number of the pump in your car if you have not found where it is. The Mercedes part numbers should have 10 digits such as the number above. Both Bosch and Hella made vacuum pumps for Mercedes cars and the manufacturer's numbers will be different.

On the W126 models the pump is under a cover in the (triangular) corner of the spare wheel well. I believe that if not there, the pump is under the rear seat, passenger side in an insulated box.

However, I must emphasize that I have never had the pleasure of dismantling a W140.

The ABS warning light issue I defer to experience like Jonathan.

Regarding the rear driver's side window regulator, personally, I'd tell passengers in the back seat that the child-lock is activated and I would prefer that people didn't fiddle with the windows.

As for the trunk and doors, I'd just slam 'em shut like everybody else.

-Bellamy

Hi Everyone,

On my '92 300SD, my door closer and trunk closer feature no longer works, and I tried to save some money by ordering one off of ebay, by comparing the pics of the two parts. My question is, will the vacuum pump with the last 3 numbers 748 work on my car which has the last 3 numbers 948? Also, exactly where in the trunk is the vacuum pump for the door closers located at? I also have an abs warning light that comes on like every other day. Is there a common sensor for this model that I can just replace, and also where would that be located at? And last but not least, how hard is it to replace the window regulator on the rear driver's side? I think it is the regulator, because I can hear the motor turning inside the door.
