[W126 Coupe] Seat change...

Mike,

I refurbished my drivers' seat three years ago. The total bill was about $600, but it was well worth it.

The leather on my seat was in good condition so I only did a Leatherique treatment to the surfaces.

Here's how it broke down:
- New springs, $350
- New horsehair pad, $110
- Labor at local upholstry shop, $150

I did the leather on the font armrest about two years ago and got a new piece from GAHH. Perfect fit and color matching.Regards, Axel J. Wulff610-731-5453 Cellular610-572-4611 Home

Greetings from Colorado,

Speaking of seats I just returned from a 3,400 mile trip through the western states in my 87 560 SEC with 290,000 miles.

I met Shin in LA and reviewed several of his cars, great collection!! Also Shin gave me a thrill ride in his 56 W 198 Gull Wing. Amazing!!!

My mileage was 19 MPG at over the speed limit and used 2 quarts of oil. Not bad results, however my ass is just recovering.

It seems that the miles have taken its toll on the seat support and the leather.

What is the best source for new seat covers front and rear?

Thanks,
Mike Beyersdoerfer

More patience actually. I've done this to SEC seats already and started on an SEL.

I will be doing the same soon, as even the early gen2 seats aren't the same as the later ones. Anyhow, ifyou remove the 6 screws holding the "base" to the seats, you can just swap that over. 4 of the screws are easy/obvious to see, one at each corner. However, the final 2 are in the middle and you have to get the seat track lined up just so to access them.

Best of luck,Markus Meyermfm at meyerprobateproperties.comwww.meyerprobateproperties.comMeyer Probate & Properties, LLC484-919-9762

Hi Everybody again! Ok - here's my next challenge and question! I'm in the process of changing my interior from the early style to late style - which also has the orthopaedic option. I've changed the vacuum pump, plumbed in all the air lines to the front seats, and i''ve fitted the drivers seat which is fully operational - Hurrah!! Now comes the next challenge!! For some reason the replacement passenger seat is a non-memory seat, unlike my current seat - hence the multi-plug is very different I presently have both seats upside down sitting on the kitchen table (much to my wife's bemusement!!) ready to operate. The way i'm looking at it is that i have to change the bases over including the motors from the back rest & head rest as well. My question/s is this....

What is my best option to get the replacement seat with the memory seat opton fitted? - is it best to remove the whole lower base - or transfer the electrics over instead?
If the best option is to remove the lower base of the seat - which is the best way to do it?
Thanks Jon 1982 380SEC1987 560SEC
