[W126 Coupe] Odometer gears...380SEC to sell

Barry,
the primary gear should be new - it does a lot of work and the originals weren't made of a rigid enough plastic (or one that goes mushy in time, as all mine seem to be in various stages of mushiness).

The 380 only has a single width timing chain that is somewhat of an Achilles heel (most other Merc's have double row timing chains). Don't hesitate to change it :)

Thanks Robert and Markus for your quick reply. I really only need the 12 tooth primary gear at this stage and tried to obtain it from another speedo...but it too fell apart! (so in theory I need two now!) My cluster is in top condition with white dials and chrome rings so I don't need the whole lot but I guess a good used speedo only could suffice. I will change the other bits......including the LED (flanked) lamps that make so much difference without the heat! In the meantime I will consider all options as it is not an urgent situation. I think my timing chain should be done soon as an inspection revealed some looseness. ****
By the way I have a complete wrecking/project Gold 380SEC that I want to sell. Needs guard & bumper & LHS headlamp from a small hit. Engine & tranny & A/C is all good. Interior/Brakes need some TLC. Just don't have the time now :(
