[W126 Coupe] Dash Cover

Well, I had a new windshield installed 1 year ago. The Tech said he had 15 years experience installing Mercedes Benz windshields. I believed he because he knew exactly how to remove the "wings" on each side of the windshield without damaging anything. He told me not to use those shiny shades because they turn the  space between the windshield and the shade into an oven. Last week we had several very hot days and I decided to use my old (shiny) window shade.... the plastic dash cover melted around the speaker holes and curled up on both ends. It pulled away from the dash and now is just hanging off and looks really bad. This was a 'Cover-lay" product. I was never really happy with the texture of the plastic and the fit was only so-so.  I bought replacement from another manufacturer and the texture is much better but I have not had time to install it yet.

They look far better than the
cracked dash but they are not perfect. Do not use a mirrored/ silver windshield
shade. Ask me how I know....

Hi All

 

My dash has
three cracks in it.  I have find a used one without any cracks but I would
think it would some job installing it.  Has anyone used the dash covers
like the one below.
