Kelly, bad idea. They only serve to accumulate salt, mud, etc and start
a rot process right where you plant them. Aesthetically not a fit for
any MB in my opinion.
Wherever you place a screw in fenders, body panels, etc...as in the
chrome fender strips many apply, you will inevitably have rust. So, no
to both.
By the way, there are rubber inserts that protect the rear fender wells
where the bumper joins the body to prevent debris entering the rear
fender vent area and rail support for rear bumpers. These are simply
pressed in place on a grooved channel. No screws, all rubber. So you
already have a sort of rear rubber mud protective cover in place on your
MB.
