Hi Guys,

 

I wanted to thank everyone for their kind advice and help in my effort to
buy a Touareg V10 TDI.

 

Even though this a MBCoupes site, I've learnt over the years that there is a
good collection of knowledge here and 

a community of trustworthy people. That is in my eyes a great compliment to
any site.

 

I posted a question other than SEC and did not really expect an answer.

 

What I got was a breath of fresh air from this site.

 

Barry Corno, you are very kind to offer to inspect a vehicle for a complete
stranger! I called his cell after he inspected the

vehicle on my behalf and caught him at a counter somewhere while ordering
ice cream. He stopped in his tracks and spent ten minutes

talking to me about the vehicle and the seller, in the process setting my
mind completely at ease. That phone call sealed the deal for me!!

 

Bruce Mendel offered a variety of great options and then kindly went ahead
and gave a prospective sale and profit to himself away by being 

completely honest and stating that I had found a good vehicle at a very
decent rate and that I should buy it. He also offered sound shipping advice

that I followed up on and booked!

 

Bill Plant is his usual self offering his car, his house, his time all for
my convenience. I can honestly say that he is doing that without

cursing under his breath. (.and I probably just stepped right into it. LOL)

 

Bob Rodgers had some useful input that I chose to ignore as he could not
even figure out the 'Caps Lock" button. :-):-)

 

Brent von Behrens offered a very useful link indeed to the VWvortex forums.
The guys on there gave me a wealth of information.

I also saved 100's if not 1000's of dollars by buying a complete
(everything!!)  front and rear brake system for when the time comes to
replace 

everything, including the rotors and sensors.

The best was an extended warranty of 7y/100k miles that will save me $3
000.00 (yes thousand) over my local dealer's price.

I just need to confirm portability into Canada before I buy it. VW of
America will honor the factory 4y/50k mile warranty in Canada.

I'm just not sure which company serves as the service agent for the extended
warranties.
