[W126 Coupe] Buying a vehicle sight unseen

Guys,

I have a question that I need some advice on, if I may?

I've bought several vehicles online, all from dealers.

Now I'm thinking about buying one from a private owner who says that he is a
licensed Oregon Auto dealer in Portland.

The problem is that I am as far east as you can go in Canada and I have..

1) No way to verify the authenticity of the VW Touareg V10 Twin turbo
Diesel (VIN : wvgpt77l26d059269) after the two 7's is an L.

2) A problem sending off thousand of dollars in cash into the distance
on a word of mouth agreement.

I suggested to the owner that I have two ways of getting the vehicle to me.

That is either to ship it on a truck to eastern Canada ($$$$) or ship it to
Boston (where Bill P is :-)) and I can fly down to Boston, pick it up

and drive it home. ( That way I can get my 4 22" truck tires that has been
lying in Bill's garage for three years out of his way :-))

The kind gentleman suggested that he would drive it to Boston himself for an
extra $2000.00, which I am quite happy with.

I obviously have to pay him for the vehicle before he is going to drive it
to the east coast of the USA. He didn't say as much

but we're not dumb either.

I need to find a way to verify that vehicle and the history on it.

I also need to find a mutually agreeable way to pay for the thing???

Any and all of you gentleman's thought would be kindly appreciated...even
better if there is someone on the list that lives in

Portland, Oregon. This kind sellers name and phone number follows if anyone
has heard of him.. Joe. (503) 545-5101

I appreciate the time and patience

Hein PS Bill, are you reading all this and taking it in?....:-))

He didn't say thatH
